On Track to do great things!

An ambitious athlete in the process of fully pushing to achieve my dream of becoming a pro track and field athlete. I like to write poetry and read in my spare time to help keep my mind clear.

Ok so here we are again less than a week away from the season opening race. Though the races may have changed some over the past year, it’s still business as usual. Go out work hard and compete, focus on each race of the week, set a goal to work on that will get you to the ultimate goal you want to reach.
Goal for this weekend in San Antonio is to execute the race plan for the 400 & 200 while not panicking or breaking technique too much. Time is not a big concern but I am too much of a competitor not to have it on my mind. Just want to improve and come out of this weekend pleased not only with my effort but also healthy. #meet #TrackNation#trackandfield #focus #strength #determined #mentality #400m #200m #speed #technique #DominateOrDie #hardwork #ambition #iRun #iRep

I know it’s been a while but here my first 200m race since the coaching change. I was pleased with the race and so was my coach. Wasn’t too bad for someone who was never a starter or turn runner. I’m in the blue and black…

Let’s just say how you start is how you need to finish if not better. I took it out hard the first set and set myself up for a rough finish. The goal was 27-29 seconds, I hit the first in 25 without running the last 10-20m. I was rolling! DOMINATE OR DIE!!!

Texas State Invitational 4/7/12

I have no real words to describe how excited I was after this meet but before we get to that let’s start at the beginning. I arrived at the track about 3 1/2 hours before the meet started to do my shakeout after the ride to San Marcos. After I finished that I was feeling good and ready to run. I was feeling good, excited and relaxed it’s been a minute since I had been so ready to run. First race of the day was the 100m: I had a good start and there was just enough in my legs to pull away in the last phase of the race. There were two lines marked on the track the first line was the thought finished line but I turns out it was the second one. So with me slowing down about 15 meters before the finish I ran a 10.83, about .10 off my personal best. I knew then that it was going to be an awesome day I was upset for not running through the line but I told myself get it out your mind and focus on the next race the 200m. 1 1/2 hours after the 100m I had the 200m up and it was time to roll I was shooting for a mid or low 21 mark for my second race of the season. I took it out a little slow on the curb and the stagger broke even with me but those 300’s in practice came in handy because I was strong and able to finish a lot better than I could two weeks ago. Finished first in my heat legs were good and I couldn’t wait to ask my mom how I looked. When I saw her she gave me the thumbs up and I asked her the time, when she said 21 I was happy but the number after the . was what got me excited about everything. It was a 21.3 a new PR and a whole second faster than my opener and .8 away from the ‘A’ standard for the Trials this year. I’m ready to work and get down to business to see what I can do in three weeks when I return for my next meet.
